So, right now I’m sitting at one of my favorite restaurants in Milly “The Reel Grill” if you haven't been there you must check it out, Ben (the manager) is absolutely phenomenal. I come here about once a week to just release, enjoy a good drink, amazing food, and big laughs with friends. This past week has been pretty trying, and I’ve tried to keep a positive attitude; however, I’m human and I’m far from perfect so I definitely have my days. Anyway, while I’m sitting here I started to reflect on my most recent beach trip to Tybee with my younger sister Sarai. We had the best time, and it was just what I needed to reset. I think it would be fun to share about our beach trip as well as some tips we implemented to stay safe while visiting our favorite summer spot.

First and foremost, choose the beach you attend strategically. I knew when deciding between which beach, we wanted to go to that we were going to automatically steer clear of Florida for right now. So, when thinking about Georgia our options are quite limited, which in hindsight is pretty beneficial. Second, leave your house super early in the morning, so you can beat the crowd (if there is one). Third, pick a spot on the beach that is the furthest away from everyone else. Sarai busted out laughing at me, when I started fake coughing to ensure that no one would come near us. I know this isn’t the best idea, but we are trying to make sure we stay corona free. Random insert, as I’m sitting at the table typing this, a couple was headed to their car from the restaurant, and I see the wife start to slow up to see if her husband was going to open the car door and guess what he didn’t! I know that this isn’t a big deal to some but remember that no matter how long you’ve been married, you never stop dating. Grab the dang door men!

Okay, back to the beach trip, the fifth thing to remember is too pack a lunch instead of going out. This limits interaction with other people other than those that you traveled with. Sixth, don’t forget your favorite drinks. I go to the beach to reset, talk to God, enjoy his creation, and to relax; so white claws are my drink of choice, but hey, bring whatever you like. Last but not least, just relax and enjoy the dang sand. Our world is filled with so much chaos and tension at the moment, so when you have the opportunity to get away safely, then do so. Life is too short, and living life with any regret would honestly just suck at the end of the day!

XOXO,
Maya Mapp
